My son ought to be in nursery school, playing with brightly colored toys. And (gasp) he hasn’t even started learning the alphabet yet, at 18 months old! Instead, he spends his days doing this:
Give me a hammer and some sawdust, any day, Mom! Best of all, I like to help Daddy.
Don’t you see that Daddy needs help fixing the dryer so you don’t have to take your laundry to the laundromat on rainy days? I am so busy with my drill, I couldn’t possibly find time to play with those toys you are talking about.
Whatever would I need an alphabet for?! I have a trim nailer and oh yes, my favorite, a hammer again! Daddy and I are making this house look so nice.
I just want to be with my daddy, wherever he is and whatever he is doing, because he loves me and I love him.
Helping Daddy makes me so happy.
Your heavenly Father loves to have His children right beside Him, helping with whatever He is doing. Don’t bother with the colorful counterfeits. You’ll be so much happier with Him!
What a sweetie! Oh how I love that little man!!

Awwww, what a handsome little dearie! A while ago I also told my husband that our little one doesn’t really play that much with “real” toys, she just putters about the house and yard exploring everything and often just imitating the things she sees the rest of the household doing. Don’t you just love it? I do, but wow, I didn’t stop to think how much God must, too.
